These gardens follow Spanish architectural style (which is prevalent in the Santa Barbara region). Because the Central Coast of California is one of six Mediterranean climate zones on Earth, there is a specific plant palette to reference when designing. As well as the aesthetic of the gardens - there is a Goldilocks Rule for planting in this region: not too hot – nor too cold.
